This environment is set in the near future where the the US government developed a liquid substance to give their military superhuman strength. Not long after this development there was a virus outbreak that in combination with the liquid substance created a mutation that turns humans into zombies with a superior physique, also called "superzombies". The subway station featured here is a place in New York where one of the first attacks happened. Through the years it was often visited by survivors of the virus, ultimately making it the entrance of a survival base.
My main focus points were environmental storytelling, the creation of materials in Mixer and getting a deeper understanding of lighting in Unreal Engine. The eerie setting of the scene made this a big challenge for me as I wanted it to bring the feeling of silence after the storm, but in a mysterious way.
